I have never been disappointed. The food and service are wonderful.
Homemade bread, good variety of food, friendly fast service, interesting specials
I saw a comment that said the food wasn't good and small portions. I have no idea where they ate, but the food was VERY fresh, "home cookin" taste, and more than I could eat. My husband can put away a lunch, and he was stuffed! I would recommend this place to anyone and we WILL be back!
Fresh pastries, great staff and small town charm.
Very friendly staff and good food.
Delicious food and very nice staff. There was a lot of food in each meal and it was very well priced. Great down home cooking.
Food is good but not at tourist prices
I'm a city boy, so having a country lunch is a new experience, but my kiddos and I loved it. Tiffany is the best waitress. Ask for her.
Great service!good food! Highly recommended for breakfast!!!
Outstanding food & service
Best breakfast around. The homemade biscuits and gravy rock. Now I've tried the Club Sandwich on Bacon Black Pepper Cheese Bread and Beer Battered Side Winders, Amazing!
Wow! What a breakfast we had. The waffles were great coupled with biscuits and sausage gravy. Service was cheery and efficient. Breakfast any time? Are you kidding me? I'll be back.
Horrible service. Honestly wish I would of went somewhere else. Food was bland. All the condiments were empty and no one came to check on us. Wait was a bit long. And very pricey for breakfast!
Hubby and i had the fish plate. It was hot and good. And their brownie is to die for. You gotta try it.
Lovely little cafe. Nice waitstaff.
Croissant sandwich is amazing. Pancakes spectacular. Homemade bread is fantastic.
My husband and I ate a delicious brunch at the Bayou Bakery and Cafe this morning. He had a sausage omelet. I ate the chicken and waffles. The service was a little slow because a wedding reception was happening in the next room, but it was very friendly. My husband is insisting we return tomorrow so that he can order the chicken the waffles.
Great food and friendly service! We had a various array of selections from the menu- burger, onion rings, soups, catfish, chicken fried steak, brownies, bread pudding....everything was OUTSTANDING! A must visit for Jefferson,Texas.
This was probably one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a very long time! The staff did not seem to know what was going on. The waitress did not know anything about the menu. The food was not fresh and had extremely small portions. My father ordered the pork loin and was given roast beef. My mother ordered roast beef and was told that they were out of roast beef. My husband ordered a burger which was small and had no sides even though the menu stated that sides came with the burger. When we asked the waitress about it, she argued with us. My son ordered grilled cheese which was burned, dry toast with very little cheese. My daughter ordered macaroni and cheese which came after everyone else had finished their meals and was very obviously just boxed macaroni and cheese. Besides the bad food and equally bad service, the restrooms were not very clean and had no toilet tissue. Stay away from this place!!
Service was slow when it wasn't crowded. Overpriced food, a 12inch poboy had 6 shrimp on it. Very disappointed.
Great service & friendly staff
WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I highly recommend the breakfast scrambler! The service is great and they have baked goods too! They are to die for!!!!! If you are ever in the town of Jefferson you have to eat here!!
Breakfast bowl is delicious! Cinnamon raisin bread is to die for! Great friendly service with a smile.
as soon as we walked in to this place, someone shouted from across the restaurant, that they'll be with us shortly! So we waited and waited and the server saw us, we made eye contact with her a couple of times as she passed our table by but NOTHING!!! After 20 minutes of wait a group of locals walked in and she went straight to their table when they hadn't even sat down completely and took their order how do I know they were locals? She knew them by name!! So we walked out the second this happened! The weird part is we had bad experience with the customer service at the Excelsior earlier that day!!! for a city that makes its money off of tourists, they sure as hell have the worst customer service ever. The food looked OK from what I could see other people have, the place was dirty and mediocre at its best! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!
Great omelette and service! Too bad they are closing today. One of the only restaurants in Jefferson's downtown!
Great food and prices Of course friendly people One of my favs for Breakfast in Jefferson
This was NOT a good experience. They were out of several menu items, including really basic cafe items, and didn't realize it until 30 minutes after we ordered. Orders were cooked unevenly and with varying portion sizes. Several tables of customers got up and left while we were there. Hopefully just a bad day and not business as usual, but we won't be back.
Bad food slimy lettuce in salad. Asked them to omit onions and tomato and they put them in. Then when we asked to have the salad remade the waitress with non washed hands I in front of us dug through the salad and picked out the visible tomatoes and onions and brought it back to us. I said I just watched you dig into this salad. She straight up looked at me and denied it. Then her and the owner put an ugly red velvet screen up to block seeing into the kitchen. While we are sitting there. Gross unprofessional and unpalatable. I took a picture of the slimy lettuce. Put on their Web site. Wondering if it will stay put. They might dig through and delete it.
Loved this place both times I have been to Jefferson. Awesome breakfast. Great homemade breads. Check it out!
We were on vacation and passing through Jefferson. The food was great. The restaurant is super clean and nice atmosphere. Definitely go bavk when in town.
Breakfast is pretty good. "Bakery" was disappointing. Friendly and fast service. Reasonable prices.
Great plate lunch, salads, and burgers.
Service is terrible even on a slow day. Food is nothing to write home about. If it wasn't for tourism this place wouldn't stand a chance! They also own the Hamburger Store, we got the exact same service there, waited 45 min for a so so burger and HORRIBLE service. Sucks that Jefferson is such a cool town but 1/2 the food establishment downtown are subpar.
Not sure if the place has different ownership, but service was slow due to only one waitress (not her fault)... ! Out of orange juice at breakfast time (seriously). Will not be back.
Jalapeno cornbread & shrimp bisque were wonderful!!
Very slow, any slower service and they would be going backwards. Food was mediocre at best. Sad, used to be an awesome place to eat.
Stopped here for lunch with the model T gang. Gator bait caught our eye and it is a must try. Zesty and tasty. Club sandwich is good, breakfast is filling, and desserts hit that sweet spot. Waitress was friendly and patient and meal was not expensive. Give them a try!
The breakfast was good, especially the bacon and grits. Water not so good. Service was okay.
Hello I just want you to know that I enjoy your Cafe. The service is great and the coffee is very good along with the pastries. Tomorrow I hope to have breakfast to expand my experience even more. Thanks for asking.
Opens at 6am(5:30) when I went. Very friendly service and fast.
Good food, friendly staff
Wonderful place to eat! Friendly staff and great food! Wonderful waitresses.
I've only had breakfast here but it's amazing. Everything from food to the historic building and decor to the old men showing up every morning to have a cup of coffee together. This well definitely be a place I'll look to visit if I'm ever back in the area.
What a joke. Two breakfasts was $27. Are you kidding? Watered down grits, runny scrambled eggs. Flies on the pastries in the cabinet. I will NEVER eat there again. Disgusting!! If I could keep from even giving them 1 star, I would. NASTY!!
Best burger in Harrison County. My Wife and I loved it.
Amazing simply amazing food and service
Service was great....but the ham breakfast ...... ham was so thin u could read a news paper thru it
The food was wonderful. I loved the chicken fried steak.
Tourist trap. Got a turkey sandwich, onion rings and a coke for $14. It was good but way overpriced. It was more like a slider turkey sandwich. Won't be back
The people were very fiendly, warm and inviting and the food was Great. Thank You.
